We have designed this course for post-registration healthcare professionals seeking to deepen their teaching and learning expertise in practice-based settings.

This course focuses on enhancing your understanding of teaching theory, contemporary practice, and policy, while linking your real-world experience to these concepts. We will help you apply your learning to innovate and advance practice in your field.

The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to meet the Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) requirements, allowing you to independently apply for AFHEA certification on completion.

Teaching and assessment

You will be taught through a series of online seminars, which will be supported by the University’s virtual learning environment.

You will have access to two online coaching sessions to support you with your associate fellowship application.

Who can apply?

Entry Requirements

You must:

  • have line manager approval.
  • have been a health or social care practice educator for 2 years (via self-declaration) and/or have engaged with introductory practice educator courses.

Technology and System Requirements

As a Distance Learning student, you must provide and have access to certain IT equipment and facilities to access your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and to fully participate on your course.
