About this course

Overview

Why choose Huddersfield for this course?

  • Build practical, evidence-based policing and crime analysis skills.
  • Learn key analytical and research techniques taught by academics with real policing experience.
  • Experience Master’s-level study and gain 30 credits towards the Crime and Evidence-Based Policing MSc.

This course is ideal if you work in policing, investigation or crime analysis — or if you’re aiming to move into these fields. It explores both evidence-based policing and crime analysis, helping you build the skills to make well-informed, data-led decisions.

You’ll explore common analytical techniques and learn how they shape real policing and crime reduction strategies. The course helps you think critically about your own practice, understand the theory behind key approaches and turn research into meaningful action.

You’ll also look at core research methods used in evidence-based policing, including systematic reviews, action research and evaluations. Throughout the course, you’ll learn alongside peers, sharing experiences and tackling issues that relate directly to your role.

Teaching is delivered by academics with professional backgrounds in policing, investigation and crime analysis, so you’ll benefit from insight grounded in real operational experience.

You can study this course on its own or as part of the Crime and Evidence-Based Policing MSc. It’s a great way to experience Master’s level learning and gain 30 credits towards the full programme.
