Overview
Why choose Huddersfield for this course?
- Combine education and psychology to understand how emotional wellbeing impacts learning.
- Tailor your studies with optional modules and gain experience through voluntary work placements.
- Prepare for careers in learner support, counselling, mentoring and educational psychology.
If you want to understand how children and young people think, feel and learn, this course helps you explore the psychological factors that shape learning and wellbeing. You will examine how emotional development, motivation, relationships and environment influence a learner’s experience, and how psychological theory can be used to support individuals across a range of educational settings.
You will study education alongside psychology and the social sciences, giving you a strong foundation for roles in learner support, mentoring, counselling and educational psychology. You will learn from specialists across both disciplines and benefit from an enriched, multidisciplinary learning community.
Throughout the course, you will explore real-world issues and apply theory to practice. You will be encouraged and supported to undertake voluntary experience, and modules such as Psychology and the World of Work provide opportunities to build insight into careers linked to education and psychological support.
In the National Student Survey 2025, Psychology (non-specific) is ranked top in the UK for quality of learning resources.*
You will finish your degree with the insight and confidence to progress into teacher training, further study or roles focused on wellbeing, emotional development and learner support.
